On the 26th of February, I'll be setting off on a 12 week, 5,300 km ride around NSW, Victoria and South Australia. It's been a rollercoaster planning this ride, and the route has changed many times due to Covid-related lockdowns and restrictions (the most recent being the indefinite postponement of the opening of the Western Australia border)! It's the cause that matters, though, not the route. To see my route:
I'm cycling for those who are fighting the dreaded Beast of a disease called MND (also known as ALS), and for those who have died from it - including two of my high school teachers and a friend's father. It is the most cruelest of diseases. It is a terminal disease, and average life expectancy, following diagnosis, is 27 months. You become a prisoner in your own body, as it wastes away around you - but your mind remains sharp. Every day, in Australia, 2 people are diagnosed with it and 2 people die - there are no treatments, and there is no cure.
So please consider making a donation to this very important cause. Thanks in advance!
